The Project Ask

The client contacted Van Island Web to build an accounting website for their firm to help build business contacts and provide an overview of the services they offer and available to potential clients. The client had a domain purchased through GoDaddy, but had no current website or online presence. They requested to have a structure and design created for a new website, have the site built out to highlight their services, and have Van Island Web provide hosting and connect their domain to their hosting without effecting the email server that was currently in use with the domain.

The Process

We met with the client to get a full understanding of the goals, audience, and key information that needed to be included in the new website. From an understanding of the scope, Van Island Web created the proposal and project plan and shared this with the client for them to review and finalize

Following the review of the scope of work document by the client, Van Island Web walked through the proposal to gather additional details from the client.
After sign-off of the scope and budget, the project moved ahead with the design phase. During the design phase a structure for the website was created, as well as a design and overall look.
Following the creation of the website structure and design, the hosting and configuration for the backend of the website was initiated by Van Island Web, creating a staging environment and installing and configuring the tools necessary for the new website.
The draft site was developed in the staging environment according to specifications and objectives. Following the draft site development completion, it was provided to the client for review.
Modifications were made based on feedback, and testing on multiple devices and browsers was completed by us to ensure proper responsive design.
Upon approval, the staging environment was launched into production and the client domain URL was connected to the web server to set the new website live.
The client requested management services from Van Island Web which included weekly backups, update installations and testing of updates to ensure a well functioning and secure website.

The Solution

Van Island Web delivered a great looking website which provided potential clients and current customers an overview ot eh accounting services that the client offered as well as easy ways to get in touch with the company. The following deliverables were provided:

A sleek, single page website created with the Genesis framework and WordPress that highlighted the main services and contact information for the client.
Web hosting and domain management was provided by Van Island Web to ensure proper DNS configuration for the client's website.
Login information hand-off to allow the client to make minor modifications as needed to the content.
A website management package to keep WordPress and associated plug-ins up-to-date and ensuring they run properly and are secure. This package also included weekly backups to be able to revert to a previous version of the website in case any issues ever arise.
